When customizing your Smallwoods order, you may see options to “Include Acrylic” or “Add Border.” Here’s what these choices mean and how they can enhance your print!
What Is Acrylic?
Acrylic is a clear protective layer that can be added to your print. It serves as a glass alternative to help protect your artwork from dust, scratches, and general wear.
✔ Lightweight & Shatter-Resistant – Unlike glass, acrylic is durable and won’t easily break.
✔ Protects Your Print – Helps guard against fingerprints, dust, and minor damage.
✔ Maintains a Clear, Vibrant Look – Won’t distort colors or reduce image clarity.
What Is the Border Option?
Our border option allows you to showcase your favorite images with a clean, white, printed edge. The customizing tool lets you choose the border size that works best for your image:
✔ Small Border – Adds a subtle highlight while keeping the focus on your image.
✔ Large Border – Creates a bold, dramatic frame effect that gives even smaller images extra presence.
The border and image are printed together on non-textured material to create a seamless finish. If you choose acrylic, your print and border stay protected under our clear, durable acrylic glass.
Should I Choose Acrylic or a Border?
✔ Choose Acrylic If:
-
You want added protection for your print.
-
You prefer a glossy, sleek finish.
-
Your print will be displayed in a high-traffic area (reducing the risk of damage).
✔ Choose a Border If:
-
You want to highlight your image with a clean, white outline.
-
You’d like to add extra impact to smaller prints.
-
You prefer a more classic, gallery-style look.
❌ You May Skip These Options If:
-
You prefer a matte, non-glare look (skip acrylic).
-
You want your image to extend fully to the frame without a border.
-
Your print will be displayed in a low-touch area where extra protection isn’t necessary.
